<lj:music>The Rookie (ask Helljack)</lj:music>

Ok all. First of all sorry for the delay. I've had some internet conectivity issues, but I'm back. Hopefully this wont happen in the future. Now on to the rant.

I hate this time of year. I really do. Now don't get me wrong, I like Chrristmas as much as the next ijit, but this time of year is really trying. I can tell some explanations are in order. I'm not catholic/christian. I don't celebrate Christmas per se. I only really celebrate Christmas for my family, however I do believe in the holiday itself and it's a great holiday in theory. That being said, however everything is great in theory. Every year I get more and more annoyed that stores bring out holiday stuff early. I understand that this is when they sell the most, but CUMMON, at least wait till after Halloween. I expect next year to be inundated with Christmas sale in September. And of course we as people have decided to completely twist the meaning of the holiday from a season of giving to one of buying. Great Job people! Go pat yourself on the back, you should be proud. And before any of you bitch too much, yes I know I am just as guilty of buying stuff as the next lemming, but it doesn't mean I have to like the status quo. Apparently we, as people, are happy to have the retailers dictate to us what the holiday should be about. That makes about as much sense as putting JoAn Karkos as Secretary of Education. This year marks the second time I have been forcibaly removed from a huge retailer (I wont name drop specifically, but their name rhymes with Mal-Wart) for freaking out due to seeing Christmas product on the shelves in October. I can't be the only person annoyed by this? Also there is such a thing as too much Christmas Music. I've worked retail before and my prayers go out to all the kiddies stuck listening to it for 4 months due to their jobs. I've also got half a mind to start taking a cattle-prod and taser when I go shopping, even if I'm not buying presents. For those wondering this is for the crowds and for the ijits fighting over crap to get their children who will break it in 3 fucking days!! OK that's enough about that.

Now let me bitch a little about the other side of the coins. The Pagans. Yes I am one. Yes I know tons of great Pagans. Yes I think most of them are self-entitled whiney bitches. I am entirely sick of Pagans bitching about how their company/school/governemnt doesn't recognize Yule. Nope they don't and wanna know why? Despite the fact that modern Paganism (specifically the hodge-podge of a religion known as Wicca) is rooted in ancient beliefs that pre-date Christianity, it's still a MODERN adaptation of these faiths!! Know that means? It means it's a new religion. That's right, these religions have not been around for long. Sure the basics of the religions are acient and there are quite a bit of revivalist pagans out there following more "pure" teachings, but these haven't been accepted as official religions for very long now. You can't expect your particular faith to topple the big three over nigth, just cause you feel it should. Be patient. Give it time. Hell look how long it took for Christianity to really take off. And while you're calming down from that, quit bitching about the Christians celebrating Christmas. Yeah, they stole most of the traditions from Pagans, yeah they took the date from Pagans, but modern Christians had nothing to do with that and it's not going to change. It's actually a good holiday and you know what, we can fucking share the day. It wont kill anyone.

Ok that's enough rantings for me now. I'll talk to you later. Oh and Helljack, damn you, damn you to New Jersey for making me listen to Scott Sigler. One day there will be a reckoning between us.

OK all. I just got home from work and it was another day of listening to the same stuff over and over again.

But what are you going to do right?

Also, why is it that people always forget how to drive in snow? We live in Maine for gawd's sake.. Learn to drive in snow or move to Florida..Is 5 miles an hour on a well plowed road really necessary if you're in a 4 wheel drive SUV with snow tires?

People.

On a positive note I did finish Red Thunder by John Varley. It is a wonderful book. Basically it's about a groupd of college students who make a ship to take them to Mars. The author bends some rules of physics, but keeps it somewhat realistic. The writing is easy to read and fun to follow. Overall it's a great book. I definately recommend it.

Yeah.. Blogging..It's fun, everyone does it, but it also annoys the hell out of me (and yes I know I'm kvetching about blogging in a blog). The whole internet revolution of making information available works great (in theory, but then again what doesn't) for makeing sure everyone can post their literary aspirations, feelings, or just their day for all to see.

OK, when did reading someone elses diary become a cool thing? Yeah it's great to be able to post your problems and have somone who understands commiserate with them, but cummon. Some of the stuff I've seen would make an unwanted emo kid sit up and say; "WOW, that is WAY too emotional." Sometimes it better to leave out crap like that. I really doubt people want to hear about how you're distraught that you're dog broke a nail while banging a chimpmunk. Well unless you have a video, cause that would be freaking funny. Save you're lamentations on the horrible crap in your life for your friends. That's why they're there. Don't have friends? The quit freaking reading this and go outside. Go to a bar, mall, museum, whatever. Try socializing, you would be surprised at how well it works.

Also as an added bitch. Since when was blogging about a person a bad thing. If I hear one more "OH my god, you are so mean. I am so going to blog about this!" I swear I will have indie kid brain matter splattered on my fist. Hasn't anyone ever told these people there's no such thing as bad press? My gawds, you would think this would be common sense, but then again who ever said common sense was common? Now what I think people should do is just ignore the idiot in the first place. Cashier was a bit rude? Ignore him. Cue girl turned you down for a date? Ignore her. You'll probably get farther.

Oh ell that's my rant right now. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go blog about the horrible person at the mall today. She was so rude, like as IF!!

I come bearing bloggings for those who want to get to know me better.

However before we get to that there's the obligatory disclaimer that I will only post once. This is my journal. I will post things in it that I believe in or have opinions on. If you don't like them, sorry, but I don't really care. If you disagree you are more then welcome to post a response. I enjoy a good debate and while I may not agree with what you say, I will listen. That being said if you still don't like it, don't read it. It's that simple. No amount of qvetching will get me to say otherwise.

Ok, that's my disclaimer, now to the meat of the first blog. A bit to know about me. My name is James Worley, but everyone just calls me Worley. I'm a bit of a bibliophile. Wait, correction. I'm a huge bibliophile. I think I own more books then the nearest local library (which isn't that big of a feat actually, the nearest town only has about 2,000 people there with about a 10% literacy rate). I will read most things, except romance novels (seriously, they're like the Mcdonald's of the literary world. Packed full of empty calories, no good taste, and make you sick to your stomach.) I do enjoy a good sci-fi movie or show as well and you will probably read about some of the movies or books I've read in these pages. And to get this out in the open I am a gamer, video, tabletop RPG, larper, or something obscure, it doesn't matter. I enjoy em all and will try em all at least once. I have an eclectic taste in music and listen to pretty much everything, right now I'm on a Dropkick Murphys and Evanesence kick. You have a band you want me to listen to let me know.

That's pretty much it for the first intro. You'll learn more later on. Ciao
